EBAA cancels EBACE 2026
For the 2026 edition of EBACE, EBAA introduced a series of changes intended to respond to latest developments and renew the event. These included the planned return of the static display in a reimagined format, a stronger focus on operators, new networking opportunities including an operator lounge, and a cost structure designed to better reflect exhibitor and attendee expectations. «Despite our efforts, it has become clear that the EBACE26 format did not generate the momentum needed to deliver a viable edition of the event», said Stefan Benz, CEO of EBAA. As a result, EBAA has taken the responsible and transparent decision to cancel EBACE 2026, which had been scheduled to take place in Geneva from 2 to 4 June 2026. This will also allow the Association to focus its efforts and resources on its core mission and to step up its work on shaping the initiatives, platforms and forms of engagement that best meet the needs of its members and those of Europe’s business aviation community.

Happy 100th Birthday, United Airlines!
There were celebrations happening in every United Airlines office around the globe on April 6th, 2026. Why? Because it is the day that the first ever flight took place, 100 years ago, of an enterprise that would soon develop into one of the world’s largest airlines – and a household name, recognized by travellers and freight forwarders, alike. The United story began, 100 years ago, with a brief flight operated by a Laird Swallow open cockpit biplane carrying just under 100 kgs of mail. It took off from Pasco (WA) to Elko (NV) on that April 6th in 1926, initially under the name of Varney Air Lines, which was then renamed United Airlines in 1931. Over the following decades, the airline transformed from a tiny biplane fleet delivering airmail logistics, to a 1,100-strong fleet of varied jet engine/long-distance aircraft, that now serves a network of over 350 destinations across the world. Around 113,200 international employees ensure that schedules are adhered to, passengers are happy, and shipments reach their destinations safely and as planned.
People: Leadership Transition at Kopter

Leonardo announces the appointment of Michele Riccobono as Chief Executive Officer of Kopter. He succeeds Marco Viola, who will take on a new role within the Leonardo Group outside the Helicopters Division. Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer of Kopter for the last nine years, directing the development and certification of the AW09, Michele Riccobono brings extensive knowledge of the programme, the organisation and the certification environment. His leadership will ensure continuity and a sustained focus on programme execution, milestone achievement, industrial readiness, and entry into service in full alignment with Leonardo’s strategic objectives.
Since 2020, following Kopter’s acquisition by Leonardo, Marco Viola has led the company through a pivotal phase, overseeing its successful integration into the Helicopters Division and guiding the AW09 on its path toward certification. Under his leadership, Kopter strengthened its organisational foundations and significantly advanced the programme towards entry into service, in full coordination with the relevant Divisional functions. The AW09 will further strengthen Leonardo’s presence in the light single-engine helicopter segment, representing a natural complement to its existing product portfolio.
